Suspect Apprehended Following Lviv Explosion

According to Главком: Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko has urgently traveled to Lviv to coordinate the investigation into a nighttime explosion that killed 23-year-old police officer Viktoriia Shpilka. A female suspect was detained just ten hours after the attack. Minister Klymenko stated that the primary line of inquiry suggests the crime was commissioned by Russian special services. This incident highlights the persistent threat of sabotage operations within Ukraine's cities during the ongoing war.

City surveillance camera systems reportedly played a crucial role in the swift arrest, allowing investigators to document the moment the explosive device was planted and trace the suspect's route.

"I have reviewed the initial findings. The surveillance footage enabled us to quickly trace the suspect's movements and record the moment the explosive device was planted. Once again, video monitoring systems have proven their effectiveness in criminal investigations,"

The majority of the injured were hurt by a second explosion. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi commented on the aftermath of the terrorist act on Danylyshyna Street, stating the city is preparing compensation payments for residents and businesses whose property was damaged. Many residential buildings and small-to-medium business premises were affected.

Viktoriia Shpilka was originally from Volyn, lived in Kherson, and was a graduate of the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs. Her death has deeply affected her colleagues and the community. Ihor Klymenko visited wounded police officers and National Guard personnel in Lviv, offering support and condolences.

"There is every reason to believe this crime was commissioned by Russia. It is not the first time the enemy has deliberately set deadly traps for Ukrainian law enforcement officers, using recruited Ukrainian citizens to do so,"

Risks Facing Ukrainian Law Enforcement

This tragic event underscores the severe risks Ukrainian law enforcement faces amid the war and a growing terrorist threat. The Lviv explosion, which claimed the life of a young officer, illustrates another attempt by the aggressor to destabilize Ukraine through acts of terror. The outcome of this investigation will be critical not only for achieving justice but also for informing future security measures to protect citizens.
