A Kyiv resident has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the kidnapping of a capital cardiologist. In June 2024, he was forcibly put into a car, had a black bag put over his head, and was injected in the leg, claiming it was poison. They demanded 2 million US dollars for 'antidote'. After it was recognized that such an amount was impossible, they agreed on 40 thousand US dollars, which the doctor's wife was to collect. The kidnappers then took 15 thousand hryvnias from the victim, released him from the car, and disappeared.
One of the accused has been found guilty of the crime and sentenced to 10 years in prison. The other participant in the crime has been separated into another proceeding. The criminal is in custody.
