Liberation of Kherson: how the Armed Forces of Ukraine returned the city three years ago

On the same day, half of the Russian troops crossed the Dnipro River, and the next morning their retreat was recorded via a pontoon bridge to the eastern bank, while Ukrainian forces approached Kherson. Everywhere Ukrainian armored columns passed, local residents came out onto the streets, greeting the liberators with flags and joyful cheers.

Sappers were finding and neutralizing mines and traps that posed a threat to military and civilian residents. Demining work continues, during which several people were injured, and one person died.

However, no serious resistance or traps were found in Kherson, and the retreat of Russian troops was described as chaotic and disorderly. Local residents joyfully welcomed the troops on the streets, coming out with flags and tears of joy.
