Experts named the 7 most corrosion-prone cars in Ukraine: rating

Experts have determined that even reliable cars can be vulnerable to corrosion. According to the British WhatCar, in collaboration with Ukrainian SUVNews, the most problems with rust have been found in the following models:

1st place: Renault Logan / Sandero (up to 2020)

Renault Logan and Sandero are the leaders in vulnerability to corrosion among all modern cars. Poor anti-corrosion treatment and rapid accumulation of dirt lead to quick rust formation on thresholds and doors.

2nd place: Suzuki Grand Vitara (2006-2014)

Despite its mechanical reliability, the Suzuki Grand Vitara faces corrosion issues. Problems appear particularly quickly on the underbody, suspension mounts, and joints of body elements.

3rd place: Opel Astra H (2004-2010)

Opel Astra H is among the models doomed to rust. The rear arches, trunk, and thresholds are the most vulnerable areas where corrosion quickly forms.

Why and how cars become victims of corrosion

According to experts, sharp temperature fluctuations, aggressive reagents, and the prevalence of accident-prone cars in Ukraine significantly accelerate the corrosion process compared to Europe. Specialists recommend regularly conducting anti-corrosion treatment to avoid serious issues with the body.

The study identified three most problematic models of used cars that are particularly prone to corrosion. This information serves both potential buyers and current car owners to avoid serious problems in the future by timely conducting anti-corrosion measures.
