Judge from Transcarpathia caught taking bribes in candies: HJC allowed arrest

According to САП: The HJC approved the detention of the judge from Transcarpathia, who was offered 'candies'

On December 4, 2025, the High Council of Justice approved the request of the head of the SAP for the detention of the judge of the district court of the Transcarpathian region, who is suspected of receiving improper benefits.

The HJC believes that the evidence against the judge is substantiated and allows his detention. A motion for the application of a preventive measure in the form of detention is already being prepared.

Quote: 'The judge approached the director of a private enterprise with a request for the provision of improper benefits for the cancellation of the arrest and the return of the property to storage. We are talking about 20 cubic meters of wood. He was caught receiving 1300 USD in improper benefits, which he jokingly referred to as “candies”.'

According to the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until proven guilty in court. Let us remind you that judges must act with fairness and adhere to the law, which is a fundamental principle of their professional activity.
