Wizz Air launches new flights from Romania and Moldova: which routes are now available to Ukrainians
The European low-cost airline Wizz Air announced the expansion of its route network near Ukraine. In 2026, the company will launch new flights from the Romanian city of Iași and the Moldovan capital of Chișinău, providing Ukrainians with additional options for traveling to Europe without layovers.
The new routes are scheduled for May–June 2026 and cover popular tourist and business cities. The airports in Iași and Chișinău are traditionally used by Ukrainians as alternative aviation hubs due to their proximity to the border and convenient ground connections.
New Wizz Air flights from Iași to Italy
Starting in May 2026, Wizz Air will begin operating direct flights from Iași to two Italian destinations. These are:
-
Milan (Malpensa Airport);
-
Pisa.
Iași Airport is one of the closest to the Ukrainian border in Romania, so the launch of new flights expands the opportunities for quick trips to Italy without complicated layovers.
Flights from Chișinău: four new European routes
In May–June 2026, the low-cost airline will also open several new routes from the capital of Moldova - Chișinău. Passengers will have direct flights available to the following cities:
-
Cologne;
-
Basel (EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse);
-
Rhodes;
-
Rimini.
Chișinău remains an important aviation hub for Ukrainians traveling to Europe. The new flights make it easier to plan both tourist trips and business trips.
Let us remind you that the EU has adopted an important decision on hand luggage on flights of Wizz Air and Ryanair.
