Introduction of the new ticketing system in Ukraine

According to Міністерство інфраструктури: As of January 1, 2026, a new unified ticket form for all types of public transport will come into effect in Ukraine. This measure has been approved by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine in accordance with Order No. 1066. The implementation of the new ticket form is based on Law No. 3378-IX of Ukraine, aimed at simplifying and modernizing the passenger transportation system in the country.

Requirements of the new system

The requirements of the new system cover a wide range of vehicles, including:

  • city and suburban bus routes,
  • intercity and international bus routes,
  • trams and trolleybuses,
  • metro.

This will allow passengers to use unified tickets not only within one city but also for intercity and international transportation. An important aspect of this innovation is that the requirements apply to both paper and electronic tickets.

'The unified ticket form is a basic yet very important step towards a transparent and understandable system of passenger transportation.' - Serhiy Derkach, Director of the Department of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine

The introduction of a unified ticket form in Ukraine is a significant step towards modernizing the transport system, which can greatly simplify life for passengers and increase their satisfaction with public transport services. Considering that the innovation extends to all types of transport, it can promote the integration of various transport services and improve the overall mobility of the population. Implementing electronic tickets also aligns with modern trends that can reduce queues and waiting time for ticket purchases, enhancing transportation efficiency.
