Ukraine to Implement Nationwide Hourly Power Outages Starting February 4, 2026
Nationwide Hourly Power Outages to Begin
According to Главком: Starting February 4, 2026, Ukraine will implement scheduled hourly electricity blackouts across all its regions. This measure is a direct response to the extensive damage inflicted on the nation's energy infrastructure by Russian attacks. The outage schedules will be applied countrywide, accompanied by power consumption limits for industrial users.
This follows similar emergency measures already in use on February 3, 2026. Russian military strikes targeted thermal power plants, including combined heat and power plants (CHPPs) and thermal power stations (TPS), which provide heating for districts in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro. Facilities owned by the energy company DTEK were among those damaged.
Appeal to Consumers
In light of these developments, energy experts are urging consumers to monitor official information channels from their regional power distribution companies (oblenergos).
“The situation in the power system is dynamic. To find out the timing and scope of outages for your specific address, please check the official pages of your regional oblenergo. When power is available according to the schedule, please use it sparingly!”
Ukrenergo Company
The introduction of scheduled blackouts is a necessary wartime measure to manage the severe strain on Ukraine's power grid. These steps are crucial for maintaining overall system stability and ensuring electricity supply to critically important facilities. Consumers are advised to stay informed of schedule changes and follow the recommendations of energy companies to mitigate the impact of the outages.
