The Russian Federation is facing a severe problem with access to clean drinking water, leading to an increase in illness among the population due to environmental pollution. Every ninth resident of Russia encounters the inability to obtain quality drinking water. This was reported on the website 'Grocery' referencing information from the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service.

According to the Foreign Intelligence Service, last year 11 thousand people died in Russia due to contaminated drinking water, while another 1.4 million people fell ill. The most common illnesses caused by substandard water are diseases of the digestive system, urogenital system, and skin.

Increase in Water Pollution Levels

According to statistics, the number of cases of extremely high and high pollution of water bodies has significantly increased. Just last year, 3095 cases of pollution were recorded at least 334 water bodies. The highest pollution was found in the waters of the Volga and Ob river basins, as well as the Dnipro, Yenisei, Don, Amur, Neva, and Ural rivers.

In Russia, there is a pressing issue of providing the population with clean drinking water, which leads to an increase in cases of illness and mortality. Over the past year, thousands of deaths have been recorded due to the unsuitability of water for consumption, and there has also been a significant increase in cases of water pollution across the country.
