The Forgotten Pearl of Ukraine: What Makes the Baden Palace Special, Once Astounding with Luxury
In the Ternopil region lies a time-forgotten architectural masterpiece - the Baden Palace. Once, this luxurious residence amazed its guests with exquisite style and opulence, being a true gem of the region.
Today, the palace stands in a semi-ruined state but retains the atmosphere of past greatness, which attracts historians, travelers, and romantics.
What is Known About the Palace
Built in the early 20th century over the Dniester River, it once dazzled with its festive decor, symmetry, rich decoration, and spacious halls. The risalits and sculpted roof granted it a special elegance.
The palace was constructed in the neo-Renaissance style with elements of Baroque and Classicism. Its facade was adorned with columns, balconies, and decorative stucco, while the interiors featured luxurious halls, marble fireplaces, and exquisite parquet floors.
It was surrounded by a luxurious park spanning 200 hectares, where one could wander for hours. It is said that until 1939, the park was maintained by 30 gardeners. Today, only the shabby walls remain, reminiscent of past glory.
The village of Koropets in the Ternopil region, where the palace is located, belonged to the Polish crown until 1615, after which these lands passed from one noble family to another until, in 1893, it was purchased by Count Stanislaus Baden who rebuilt the palace to the form it retains to this day.
The Way to the Baden Palace
The journey to the Baden Palace involves kilometers of a bumpy road winding serpentinely through the hills, testing the endurance of any vehicle. Those who conquer this path will be rewarded with enchanting landscapes and the opportunity to feel the atmosphere of bygone eras.
The Buchak Canyon, located here on the Horno-Tikich River, is included in the ranking of the 100 most beautiful places in Ukraine. For a long time, it was known only to locals. The place became popular thanks to random tourists, both Ukrainian and foreign celebrities, who came here to shoot videos and films.
The Buchak Canyon is considered a place of power because people here feel an energy surge. Previously, in this area, Cossacks taught youth. They made them run along the rocky shore blindfolded and jump from the highest points. At the moment of falling, the person would acquire magical abilities. Or they would die. It was said that the Cossacks could disappear in one place and reappear in another.
The Baden Palace is a cradle of past greatness that remains semi-ruined yet enchants with its history and attracts visitors with the atmosphere of bygone times.
