Salary of tile setters and electricians in Kyiv has risen to 70000 UAH

In Kyiv, the incomes of specialists in the housing repair industry have sharply increased. Due to mobilization and high demand, tile setters, electricians, plumbers, and equipment installers can earn up to 70 thousand hryvnias a month and even refuse certain orders. This is reported by TSN.

There is an ongoing discussion in the market about a case where a Kyiv tile setter was offered to install an Italian bathtub worth over 1.3 million hryvnias, with only 5 thousand hryvnias paid for the work. The master refused, explaining that due to the weight of the bathtub at 900 kg and possible liability risks, such work should cost significantly more. Even an offer of 40 thousand hryvnias did not convince him.

How mobilization changed the market

Clients confirm that the shortage of specialists has become critical. Due to mobilization, many repair teams have virtually ceased to exist, and the workload on those who remain has increased several times.

As a result, the following trends are observed:

• waiting for a master can take weeks
• schedules are booked 10–14 days in advance
• the cost of work has risen to a 'cosmic' level
• some specialists refuse complex or risky orders.

Renovation in Kyiv during power outages: why costs are rising

An additional factor contributing to rising costs has been the regular power outages. To perform work, masters have to use generators or expensive battery-powered tools, which increases time and costs.

Kyiv residents report that installing equipment for backup power can cost hundreds of dollars, and a master's daily earnings can sometimes reach 10 thousand hryvnias. Due to complicated logistics, the need for fuel, and limited access to electricity, the final cost of repairs continues to rise.
