Ukraine strengthens the fight against domestic violence: what has changed

Kateryna Pavlichenko, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, participated in a meeting of the Commission on Gender Equality Issues. This event was held under the chairmanship of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.

The fight against domestic and gender-based violence

Kateryna Pavlichenko noted that one of the priorities of the "Biarritz Partnership" initiative for achieving gender equality is combating domestic and gender-based violence. She emphasized that the adopted Law No. 3733-IX, developed jointly with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police, significantly strengthened the capabilities of law enforcement agencies in combating domestic violence, improved mechanisms for working with perpetrators, and established liability for sexual harassment.

"Efforts to combat violence are ongoing, and we are steadily moving towards ensuring that every person feels protected," concluded Kateryna Pavlichenko.

Participation in important events on gender equality issues, focusing on combating domestic violence and violence in society are key aspects of work in the field of gender equality in Ukraine. The actions of the government and law enforcement agencies are aimed at enhancing the protection and support of women and men in situations of violence and discrimination.
