IFAD allocated 15 million dollars to Ukrainian farmers: who will receive support
As part of the cooperation between Ukraine and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (World Food Programme), it has been announced that the DOBRO project 'Development of Business and Opportunities for Rural Areas' has been approved. This project is the first full-scale IFAD project in Ukraine, aimed at creating sustainable production chains for agricultural producers.
The project provides for the allocation of the first 15 million dollars to support small farmers, including youth, women, and veterans. Special attention is given to climate resilience due to the deteriorating environmental conditions associated with the conflict in Ukraine.
Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine Denys Bashlyk noted: 'State programs have already yielded positive results. Farmers have received significant grant assistance for the development of their farms.'
During the dialogue, the long-term and urgent needs of the agricultural sector and Ukraine's readiness to implement the DOBRO project were highlighted.
Ukraine and the International Fund for Agricultural Development plan to jointly support the development of rural areas and improve conditions for small farmers, specifically taking into account climate change and environmental aspects.
