According to Главком: Rescue operations in Kharkiv have concluded following a missile strike on a residential building on March 7. For over two days, hundreds of emergency personnel, including canine units, mountain rescuers, engineers, and specialists from other regions, worked at the scene, removing more than 2,400 cubic meters of rubble. The attack claimed the lives of 10 people, among them two children: a seven-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl. Body fragments recovered from the debris are still undergoing identification.
At least 16 people were injured, including three children. Four individuals remain missing. The strike damaged approximately 20 buildings, vehicles, and educational facilities. Psychologists provided support to dozens of people affected by the tragedy. This incident is part of a devastating pattern of attacks on civilian areas in Ukraine.
Strike Details
The missile hit a five-story residential building in Kharkiv's Kyiv district shortly after 1:35 AM on March 7. Among the victims were an elementary school teacher from Lyceum No. 6 and her second-grade son, as well as an eighth-grade student from Lyceum No. 16 and her mother.
“Tragically, 10 people have died, including two children: a seven-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl. Body fragments have also been recovered from the rubble, and identification is ongoing. At least 16 people were injured in the attack, three of them children. Canine teams with search dogs will continue working even after the rescue operation concludes, as four people are still reported missing,” stated Ihor Klymenko.
This tragedy underscores the severe toll on civilians in Ukraine, where the war continues to inflict casualties and destroy critical infrastructure. The focus now is on recovery efforts, supporting the victims, and implementing measures to enhance civilian safety amidst the ongoing conflict.
