Zelensky instructed Shmyhal to urgently conclude contracts for interceptor drones

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky began an audit of contractual obligations in the defense sector, focusing on the urgent contracting of interceptor drones. He published this information on social media on July 18.

The head of state instructed to urgently conclude all necessary contracts for drones needed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The meeting also discussed issues regarding the provision of diplomatic activities - their frequency and main tasks.

Negotiations between Zelensky and other state figures

On the same day, the President of Ukraine held a meeting with Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, where issues concerning the work of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and the work of the General Staff were discussed. The main tasks include continuing cooperation with partners on concluding agreements on armaments, analyzing the implementation of decisions made by the NSDC and the General Staff of the Armed Forces, as well as activating the negotiation process.

Zelensky also spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron about the situation at the front and the essential defense needs of Ukraine, in particular, strengthening Ukraine's air defense. The parties agreed to prepare additional pilots for 'peace' planes as part of cooperation between the countries.

In a phone call with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, steps were agreed to strengthen Ukraine's air defense and prepare for the upcoming winter. Norway also supports sanction pressure on Russia.

During the meeting, Zelensky announced the start of an audit of agreements in the defense sector, focusing on the need for urgent contracts for interceptor drones. The president also pointed to the importance of active participation in diplomatic activities and continuing cooperation with international partners to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.
