Ukrainian Energy Workers to Receive 20,000 Hryvnia Bonus, Zelenskyy Announces

Zelensky announced bonus for energy workers
Енергетики України отримають премію у розмірі 20 тисяч гривень, за словами президента Зеленського.

Bonus for Emergency Repair Crews

According to Главком: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a 20,000 hryvnia bonus for workers involved in emergency repair and restoration efforts for the months of January, February, and March. This decision comes as Ukraine's energy grid faces severe strain, particularly in Kyiv, where as of January 23rd, heating remained cut off in 1,200 apartment buildings. The country's energy infrastructure has been a primary target of Russian attacks since the full-scale invasion began.

According to reports, January 22nd was the most difficult day for Ukraine's power system since the nationwide blackout in November 2022. In the capital and other regions, crews are working to reconnect multi-story buildings to heating networks following attacks on January 9th and 20th. To preserve the integrity of the national grid, Ukrenergo has implemented special emergency shutdown schedules.

State of the Energy Grid

Zelenskyy noted that repair teams, emergency services, energy companies, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are working around the clock, yielding positive results in restoring power. However, the overall situation remains difficult, especially in Kyiv, the Dnipropetrovsk region (Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih), Kharkiv and its region, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.

The President also emphasized the importance of supporting the workers involved in restoring the energy system.

The 20,000 hryvnia payment will be granted to each worker engaged in emergency restoration work during the specified months.

This presidential initiative reflects the government's commitment to supporting personnel laboring under extreme conditions and underscores the critical role they play in rebuilding essential infrastructure. The bonuses may also serve as an incentive to attract additional resources to the repair efforts, which is particularly vital given the ongoing challenges to Ukraine's energy security.
