Ukrainian President Issues Sanctions Decrees

According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has enacted two decrees implementing sanctions decisions made by the National Security and Defense Council. These measures are part of a broader international effort to weaken Russia's war machine. The first decree aims to restrict the capabilities of the Russian military-industrial complex, while the second targets financial infrastructure and individuals aiding Russia in evading sanctions. Some of these Ukrainian sanctions are expected to be incorporated into the European Union's upcoming 20th sanctions package.

Scope of the New Sanctions

The newly enacted sanctions apply to:

  • 66 individuals
  • 62 legal entities

The sanctioned individuals include citizens and residents of Russia, Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan, and the United Arab Emirates. The first decree covers 24 individuals and 27 entities, and the second decree targets 42 individuals and 35 entities.

Companies affected by the sanctions include suppliers of goods for manufacturing components for Russian missiles and drones, as well as the A7 cryptocurrency network ecosystem. The sanctions also target an association of developers and users of technologies supporting the Russian crypto market and industrial mining, along with payment operators, cryptocurrency owners, and crypto exchanges. The EU's 20th sanctions package is in its final stages and could be approved by the end of this month.

The implementation of these new sanctions is part of Ukraine's strategy to increase pressure on Russia and its allies in response to military aggression.

These actions underscore the importance of international coordination on sanctions, as some of the Ukrainian decisions align with the EU's upcoming package, demonstrating a unified Western stance against the aggression. By maintaining pressure on Russia's financial and military structures, Ukraine aims to diminish its capacity to wage war and sustain the conflict in the region.
