The visit includes a bilateral meeting between Zelenskyy and Sandu, plus a trilateral session with Romanian President Nicușor Dan. On the evening of 27 August, Zelenskyy and Sandu are expected to make joint statements to the media. At 21:10 local time, the three leaders will attend Moldova’s Independence Day festivities.
Marching in Chișinău: Military Display and Cross-Border Ties
A parade was held in Chișinău to mark the holiday, featuring more than 2,000 service members, including Ukrainian soldiers. The visit underscores the importance of Ukraine-Moldova cooperation and both countries’ efforts to uphold independence and stability in the region.
Zelenskyy’s trip to Moldova reflects stronger interstate ties and a shared approach to security. With ongoing tensions in Eastern Europe, cooperation among Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania is becoming ever more relevant as the three nations work to preserve stability and sovereignty amid various challenges.
