Zelensky on long-range weapons: why this is key to peace for Ukraine
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the presence of long-range weapons is the key to achieving peace in the country. He stated this in an address on October 21, 2025, when the full-scale war had already lasted for 1336 days.
'The more Ukrainian long-range capabilities, the greater the Russian willingness to end the war. Now the weeks have once again confirmed this,' Zelensky emphasized.
Zelensky also reported on the completion of preparations for meetings with representatives of European countries. A new agreement on military capabilities is to be signed this week, which will become part of the long-term security guarantees for Ukraine. However, the details of this document are currently not disclosed.
Agreements with the USA and the difficult situation in the East
Zelensky also reported on agreements reached with the United States regarding the organization of dialogue along the front line. 'We had a meeting with the President of the USA and agreed on conducting dialogue at the already existing front line. President Trump expressed support for this idea,' he explained.
'As soon as the issue of long-range capabilities for us - for Ukraine - became a little further away, Russia almost automatically became less interested in diplomacy,' Zelensky revealed.
According to the president, Russia avoids diplomacy and tries to evade resolving the conflict in a peaceful format. 'We forced Russia to show that 'Tomahawks' are exactly the card they are weighing,' Zelensky added.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of having long-range weapons to achieve peace in the country. He also highlighted the achievements in preparing for the agreement with European partners and establishing dialogue along the front line together with the United States.
