Zelenskyy Outlines Terms for Putin Talks with Trump, Mobilization, and Elections

According to ХВИЛЯ: In an interview with the British broadcaster Sky News, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed critical issues, including nuclear weapons, potential negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin involving Donald Trump, as well as the state of military mobilization and the conditions required for holding elections in Ukraine. This comes at a pivotal moment as international support and the trajectory of the war remain central concerns for Kyiv and its allies.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy refuted suggestions from partners about transferring nuclear weapons, stating,

“The Russians should know that if someone wanted to... But this is not happening.”

The President also noted that he trusts security guarantees from Donald Trump and supports the idea of a trilateral meeting that could include both Trump and Putin. According to Zelenskyy, a key condition for such talks is that

“there will be no Moscow or Minsk, only neutral territory.”

Mobilization Figures and Election Prerequisites

Discussing mobilization, the president reported that Ukraine is conscripting approximately 30,000 to 34,000 people each month. He added,

“We mobilize what we can... Russia [mobilizes] about 10,000 more.”

This data indicates Russia is conscripting roughly 10,000 more personnel monthly than Ukraine, raising concerns about the strain on Ukrainian forces and the long-term balance of manpower.

Regarding the conditions for holding elections, Zelenskyy emphasized that a primary requirement is a ceasefire lasting at least two months. He stated that “we need security. People cannot have an election campaign under shelling, under missiles.” For elections to proceed, Ukraine's parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, must also amend the relevant legislation, which is another crucial condition for ensuring stability in wartime Ukraine.
