Norway's Military and Energy Aid to Ukraine

According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has detailed the extensive military and energy assistance Ukraine is receiving from the Kingdom of Norway. He highlighted the delivery of NASAMS air defense systems, of which Ukraine now has more than ten units, and the provision of natural gas, underscoring the robust partnership between the two nations. Zelenskyy emphasized Norway's active efforts to supply Ukraine with critical resources during the war. This support is part of a broader Western coalition aiding Ukraine's defense against Russian aggression.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy: 'Norwegian NASAMS systems have been a tremendous help to us. I won't specify the exact number of NASAMS we possess, but it exceeds ten, and we continue to receive them. We have also received Norwegian-made missiles for these systems. However, even Norway's own stockpiles were insufficient. Norway then worked politically with other countries to secure additional missiles for us. This was extremely important.'

This past winter, following Russian strikes on Ukraine's gas infrastructure, Norway supplied gas, which proved critical for the country's energy security. The Ukrainian President expressed gratitude for this support, stating: 'The people of Norway stand behind these decisions. All parties in the parliament support them as well. Thank you. Every country has its domestic politics, but the unity of the Norwegian parliament regarding Ukraine is of paramount importance, and we value it.'

Cooperation in Additional Areas

Zelenskyy also reported on joint Ukrainian-Norwegian work on drone production. Furthermore, Norway ranks as the world's second-largest contributor to the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), demonstrating the country's active role in supporting Ukraine during the conflict.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy: 'There were those who urged us to halt work on the resolution draft... I said: 'No, not a single step back.' After all, there are many countries that support us... The resolution was backed by 107 countries-we are grateful to each one of them.'

A meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, which focused on energy security and strategic partnership, confirmed the continuation of multifaceted cooperation between Ukraine and Norway.

This development highlights the vital importance of international support for Ukraine amid the ongoing armed conflict, particularly from nations willing to provide both military and energy assistance. The collaboration with Norway, encompassing NASAMS deliveries and gas supplies, signifies a strengthening strategic partnership crucial for regional security and stability. The noted backing from the international community, including through UN resolutions, reflects a global solidarity with Ukraine.
