Zelenskyy Warns World Is Unprepared for a Russia-Iran Alliance
Ukraine's Growing Geopolitical Role
According to ХВИЛЯ: In an interview with Irish journalist Caelainn Robertson, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asserted that his nation's geopolitical influence is on the rise. He pointed out that Washington now seeks assistance directly from Kyiv, bypassing traditional European capitals like Paris, Berlin, or London. Zelenskyy also commented on the American refusal of a proposal to deploy a British aircraft carrier.
Threats to Global Security
President Zelenskyy issued a stark warning about the potential for a Third World War, citing the deepening military cooperation between Russia and Iran. He recalled that Russia used Iranian Shahed drones against Ukraine early in the war and noted that Iran is now receiving Russian components and technology. Ukrainian intelligence has confirmed the presence of Russian-made parts in Iranian attack drones.
The President further revealed that North Korea has dispatched ten thousand soldiers currently stationed in Russia. These troops could potentially be redeployed to Ukraine if Russia decides to send its own forces to Iran.
“Only one question arises: which country will be the first to support the Iranian regime by sending troops there?” Zelenskyy asked, emphasizing that the world is not ready for such an alliance.
Zelenskyy also assessed Europe's technical preparedness for modern threats, stating that
“from a technical point of view, Europe is not sufficiently ready. Only individual countries are. The Germans are acting fast-but it’s not enough.”
He indicated there is too little time this year to prepare adequately for such challenges. The President observed that “modern war is about missiles and drones, not just ground forces,” and acknowledged the power of the American military.
Reflecting on his personal duty, Zelenskyy stressed, “Today I feel first and foremost like a President. I feel primarily responsibility.” He added that after fulfilling his official duties, he feels more like a father, highlighting the personal toll of leading a nation at war.
This interview underscores the acute geopolitical challenges facing Ukraine and the critical importance of sustained international support against aggression. Zelenskyy's statements highlight a shifting global landscape where Ukraine plays an increasingly central role, while his alarm over a potential Moscow-Tehran axis signals a dangerous escalation with global implications. These factors are likely to shape international policy and the responses of European and American partners in the near future.
