According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is on a diplomatic tour to Germany and Norway for meetings and the signing of key agreements. In Berlin, he has a scheduled meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Zelenskyy will participate in Ukrainian-German intergovernmental consultations, hold negotiations with the German Chancellor, and sign documents. Following his visit to Germany, the President will travel to Norway to meet with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

Preparations for Broader Security Cooperation

Ahead of these meetings, Zelenskyy announced preparations to sign new security agreements with a series of nations. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov briefed the President on the outcomes of the first phase of work with partners in the Middle East and Gulf region. The President emphasized that Ukraine is in contact with countries including:

  • Saudi Arabia
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Qatar
  • Jordan
  • Turkey
  • Syria
  • Oman
  • Kuwait
  • Bahrain

He instructed the NSDC Secretary to finalize drafts of several new security agreements and prepare them for signing.

"We have requests regarding cooperation with Iraq. Today we discussed the potential for joint work with states in the Caucasus, as well as Eastern and Southeastern Asia. There are substantive requests from African states. We are also preparing the groundwork for deeper security arrangements in Europe – we expect to achieve results this week." - Volodymyr Zelenskyy

It is important to note that on April 15, the first Ukrainian Unity Center in Europe will open in Berlin, marking a significant step in the development of Ukrainian-German relations. This diplomatic push comes as Ukraine continues to seek international support to bolster its defense and long-term security architecture.

President Zelenskyy's visits to Germany and Norway underscore the importance of Ukraine's international security cooperation, particularly amid ongoing challenges. The signing of new agreements and active diplomatic efforts highlight Ukraine's drive to strengthen its international standing and secure partner support. The opening of the Ukrainian Unity Center also demonstrates Ukraine's intent to preserve and develop cultural and political ties with its diaspora in Europe.
