Identities Revealed in Anastasiia Berezovska Murder Case

According to Главком: Investigative journalists from the Schemes project and Glavkom have disclosed the names of those suspected in the killing of Anastasiia Berezovska, a woman previously wanted by Interpol for an attempted murder of businessman Vadym Yermolaiev in Monaco. The primary suspect is 33-year-old Vladyslav Reut, a native of Zhytomyr and an active officer in the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense. The second suspect is a 49-year-old former police officer from the city of Uman, who sources suggest may currently or formerly work for the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

Case Background and Key Details

Anastasiia Berezovska had been on an Interpol wanted list for her alleged role in the June 29 Monaco explosion that injured Yermolaiev, who has since emerged from a coma and is hospitalized in Marseille. Her murder occurred after she returned to Ukraine on July 1, 2026, where her body was later discovered.

According to the journalists, the suspect charged is Vladyslav Reut, not Yevhen Reut as earlier reports claimed.

'Ukrainian law enforcement named an active HUR officer as one of the suspects in Berezovska's murder. While media previously published the name Yevhen Reut, based on two independent sources, the actual suspect who received the notice is his brother, Vladyslav Reut,' the Schemes investigation states.

Vladyslav Reut holds a law degree from Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics. Since 2022, he is believed to have served in military unit A2772, a training center for Ukraine's Special Operations Forces. The NumBuster app tags his number with 'Vlad Yurysty' (Vlad the Lawyer), and court records show a plaintiff's representative with that name in several cases.

The second suspect, a 49-year-old from Uman, served as a police officer in the Kyiv region until 2020.

'Tags linked to his mobile number include references to 'OPV UKR,' suggesting prior work in the Criminal Investigation Department of the police. Other tags mention 'Kontr VB.' Phone data and database leaks also indicate he may have been a member of the Right Sector volunteer corps. Two sources familiar with the case say he could be either a current or former SBU employee,' the investigation reports.

These new details in the Berezovska murder case demand further scrutiny by law enforcement agencies.

The case has sparked significant outcry in Ukraine, as both suspects have ties to state institutions, raising concerns about potential corruption and abuse of power. Ongoing investigations may uncover more about the circumstances of the murder and possible involvement of other parties. The probe is critical not only for justice in this specific case but also for public trust in the country's law enforcement bodies.

The investigation into Anastasiia Berezovska's murder raises significant questions about the legal status of individuals involved in high-profile criminal cases. Interestingly, another recent report highlights the legality of a suspect's entry into Ukraine following a separate attack in Monaco. This situation underscores the complexities of international law enforcement and may shed light on broader implications for ongoing investigations.
