17 NATO countries joined PURL: what weapons will arrive in Ukraine
According to hvylya.net: 17 NATO member countries support the PURL program for Ukraine, which involves supplying American weapons. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced this news after a meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal on October 15.
'Today we started, actually today, with six member countries that declared their commitment to PURL. Initially six. So, these were the Netherlands and Germany, Canada, as well as Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. But as a result of today's meeting, we have more than half of all member countries, that is, more than sixteen - seventeen member countries that have now declared their commitment to PURL,' Rutte noted.
The PURL initiative, or Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List, involves the purchase of weapons from the USA for Ukraine's needs. Under this program, Ukraine can receive regular packages of weapons worth about 500 million dollars. The country is forming a list of the most necessary weapons for procurement through this initiative.
Thus, the PURL initiative currently has the support of 17 NATO member countries, opening new opportunities for Ukraine to receive the necessary support and weapons to strengthen its defense capability.
