Academician Bohdanov: how the scientist changed the mechanics of deformable solid bodies

Today, November 25, is a significant event in Ukrainian science - the outstanding scientist and science organizer Vyacheslav Leonidovych Bohdanov is celebrating his 60th anniversary. He was born in the picturesque village of Shamrayivka, which now belongs to the Bila Tserkva district of the Kyiv region. Since 2009, Bohdanov has held a doctorate in physical and mathematical sciences, and since 2013, he has been an honored figure in science and technology of Ukraine and, since 2015, an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The main focus of Bohdanov’s research is the mechanics of deformable solid bodies. He has conducted considerable work in this field, particularly studying the mechanics of fracture, the theory of stability of deformed bodies, and the mechanics of composite materials. His contribution to understanding new mechanisms of destruction significantly expands the classical notions in this scientific field.

The scientist, who is celebrating his anniversary today, is known for his great work ethic and fruitful scientific achievements that impact the development of modern science in Ukraine and abroad. We congratulate Vyacheslav Leonidovych Bohdanov on this holiday!
