Elderly Man, 81, Sets Himself on Fire at Bank Following Dispute Over Funds

According to Главком: An 81-year-old man, born in 1945, set himself on fire inside a bank branch in Kropyvnytskyi after a conflict over a money payment. According to law enforcement, the man doused himself with a flammable substance and ignited it, resulting in burns. Emergency services received two calls from the scene: the first from the police, and the second at 11:14 a.m. when news of a second incident emerged.
The man twice refused hospitalization and remained at the scene under police supervision.
“As a result of the incident, the man sustained burns. All circumstances are being established,” commented regional police spokesperson Oksana Kovtunenko.
Alona Shmatkova-Kopotii, a representative of the Emergency Medical Center, added that
“the 81-year-old man, with a burn on his face, refused hospitalization after being examined and receiving medical aid.”
