Mobilization has caused a labor shortage: part of the harvest had to be plowed under
According to hvylya.net: The mass mobilization of men to the front in Ukraine is starting to impact the harvest, creating a labor shortage in agriculture. Agricultural companies are already facing the problem of a lack of qualified workers, and some farmers even find it more profitable to leave their crops in the field than to spend money on harvesting without the necessary number of workers.
'It is very difficult with people right now. Manual labor is needed for harvesting, but there are no people. There are no guys at all. They are all taken to war, so it is very hard,' explained the director of the agricultural farm 'LAN AGRO' Vasyl Sasko.
There is a particularly noticeable shortage of tractor drivers, combine operators, and mechanics, without whom the management of agricultural machinery is impossible. According to data from the Center for Economic and Social Development (CES), agricultural production fell by 14% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2025, which is largely attributed to the lack of sufficient labor.
The situation with the labor shortage in Ukrainian agriculture is becoming critical due to the mass mobilization of men to the front, which may lead to significant crop losses and affect production in this sector of the country's economy.
