During the "Infrastructure Day" event organized by the European Business Association, the importance of transport infrastructure for the defense and economy of Ukraine was discussed.

Discussion participants noted that the war in the eastern regions has significantly complicated the economic situation in Ukraine, leading to a decrease in production, tax revenues, and foreign currency income. However, the country continues to support the critical infrastructure necessary for ensuring defense capability and the normal functioning of the economy. Even under military threats, the government is able to allocate funds for the development of the transport system, which is a component of the country's security and economic prosperity.

'The transport sector directly affects the effectiveness of defense, the functioning of businesses, tax revenues, and the overall ability of the state to finance the army. Therefore, investing in transport infrastructure is an important link in ensuring the resilience and prosperity of Ukraine,' emphasized the Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Alex Kava.

Plans and Funding

Next year, the government plans to allocate 12.8 billion hryvnias for the maintenance and repair of roads to meet the needs of the front, to evacuate the wounded and for the rapid movement of troops. Support for railway, road, and water infrastructure, as well as updating passenger transport, will also take place.

Important projects are already being implemented, such as the introduction of European standards in Uzhhorod and the reconstruction of the bypass road in Rivne, aimed at reducing travel time to the western border.

The development of transport infrastructure plays a key role in supporting the security and stability of Ukraine, allowing the needs for modern transport and logistics systems to be met for both civilian and military use. Production, business, and the overall economic state of the country directly depend on the functioning and development of the transport sector.
