Двоє чоловіків притягнуті до відповідальності за вимагання хабара в обмін на виключення з розшуку.

Two Men Charged with Extorting 20,000 Hryvnias to Remove Individual from Wanted List

Kyiv police have formally charged two men for allegedly offering to remove a military-eligible man from the wanted list and secure him a job at a critical enterprise in exchange for 20,000 hryvnias (approximately $500). This scheme was reportedly organized by a 46-year-old resident of the Kyiv region, who acted in concert with a 27-year-old accomplice, also from the Kyiv area. Such attempts to exploit Ukraine's mobilization laws have become a recurring issue for authorities.

The investigation is being handled by the Obolon District Prosecutor's Office. The charges are based on Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a potential penalty of up to five years' imprisonment.

Serious Consequences of Extortion

Extorting money to remove someone from the wanted list is a grave offense with repercussions that extend beyond the suspects to society at large. Police are continuing their investigation to fully uncover all circumstances of the incident.

This case underscores the critical need to uphold law and order during Ukraine's martial law, a period when matters of military service and mobilization are of paramount importance.

Extortion in such contexts can lead to systemic abuse and severely undermine public trust in law enforcement institutions. Citizens must remain vigilant and report similar crimes to prevent further fraudulent activities.
