Roman Starovoit, the former Minister of Transport of Russia, committed suicide after President Putin dismissed him from office. This tragedy occurred on Monday in Odintsovo, a city in the Moscow region. According to Russian Telegram channels 112 and SHOT, the suicide took place at Starovoit's home in the village of Myakinino. The weapon he used was obtained from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2023.
According to their information, Starovoit committed suicide in his own house in the village of Myakinino, using a service weapon received from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2023.
The death of the former minister was confirmed by Svetlana Petrenko, a representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia. She stated that the body of the former minister was found in his personal vehicle with a gunshot wound.
It is worth noting that on the same day, Putin signed a decree regarding Starovoit's resignation. He had previously been the governor of the Kursk region and resigned in May 2024, a few months before the start of operations by Ukrainian forces in that region.
It is important to note that Starovoit's successor as governor of the Kursk region, Alexey Smirnov, was arrested in April of this year on suspicion of embezzling one billion rubles allocated for the construction of defense structures near the Ukrainian border through fictitious construction works. He is accused of building substandard facilities and violating project requirements. Starovoit's death occurred just three days after the mysterious death of the vice president of 'Transneft' Andrei Badalov, which became known on July 4.
