Implementation of hourly power outage schedules
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has announced the implementation of hourly power outage schedules in all regions starting from November 20, 2025. This decision was made in response to recent attacks on energy infrastructure in the Chernihiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv regions. Power outages will be carried out according to schedules that foresee consumption limitations from 2.5 to 4 shifts.
As of 9:30 AM on November 20, electricity consumption was 2.6% lower compared to the same time the previous day. The Ministry of Energy urges consumers to use electricity rationally throughout the day, especially during peak hours in the morning and evening.
Preparation for possible outages
Energy expert Viktor Kurtev also notes that the Ukrainian energy system is technically ready for the heating season. During this challenging time, it is important for every household to be prepared for possible interruptions in electricity supply. It is recommended to have in every home:
- a radio receiver and battery-powered flashlights,
- a supply of matches, candles, and dry alcohol,
- a charged power bank,
- a week's supply of drinking water and canned goods.
Thus, the implementation of hourly power outages is a temporary measure aimed at stabilizing the energy system of the country in the face of external threats.
The implementation of hourly power outages underscores the difficult situation in Ukraine's energy sector, which has resulted not only from military actions but also from the need to maintain a balance between supply and demand. Rational use of electricity by consumers and preparation for possible outages are important steps for ensuring stability in energy supply. All these measures reflect the country's desire to adapt to new realities and reduce risks for the population in conditions of instability.
