Since the beginning of the war, the prices of basic products in Ukraine have increased by one and a half to two times, and some products have even risen by four times. This is related to inflation, decreased production due to shelling, and the destruction of supply chains.
Data analysis from the State Statistics Service showed that prices for meat and fish have risen the most. The price of pork has more than doubled, beef has increased by 76%, and chicken has risen by 84%. Fish prices have also significantly increased - by 99%.
Dairy products have also become more expensive. For example, butter has risen by 110%, cheese by 71%, and eggs now cost 52% more.
Bread, flour, pasta, and sugar have also increased in price. For instance, bread prices have risen by 60-75%, and oil has become 36% more expensive. Prices for vegetables and fruits have also gone up, especially apples, which have increased by 281%.
Experts note that besides the war, the rising costs of energy resources and fertilizers are affecting prices, which increases the cost of food production. Inflation has slowed down, but prices remain high and may stabilize no earlier than 2026.
Ukrainian food prices have significantly increased due to the war, limited production, and the destruction of supply chains. Price increases have mostly affected meat, fish, and dairy products. Experts predict that prices may remain high until 2026.
