British spy Howard Phillips was found guilty of collaborating with Russian intelligence. According to The Telegraph, he managed to pass personal information about politicians and carry out espionage tasks for 'Russian agents'.
Phillips provided Russian military with details about a former defense minister, left documents on USB devices, booked hotels, and bought phones for agents he believed were employees of Russian intelligence. During a meeting in London, Phillips stated that he was ready to work with 'loyalty and devotion'.
After the last transfer of a USB device, phone, and hotel key, he was detained in a cafe in central London. At the time of his arrest, the man had an envelope with 1000 pounds - payment for completing the task.
Earlier, there were reports about American Daniel Martindale, who lived in Ukraine and spied on behalf of Russia. This incident demonstrates how powerful the influence of Russian intelligence is and its ability to attract foreign citizens to its affairs.
