Energy Crisis Headquarters Gathered: State of the System and Smooth Operation of Heat Networks
Discussion of the Energy System Status
According to Міністерство інфраструктури: The Anti-crisis Energy Headquarters, chaired by Ukraine's Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, gathered to discuss the state of the energy system and the progress of the heating season. The Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Kostiantyn Kovalchuk, also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, it was noted that attacks by the Russian Federation have caused damage to energy infrastructure facilities in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. This has raised concerns about the stability of energy supply in the country, especially during the winter period.
Current Capacities and Plans for the Future
The communal sector enterprises currently have:
- over 250 cogeneration installations,
- 186 modular boiler houses,
- 18 gas turbine and gas piston installations with a total capacity of over 500 MW.
In 2026, it is planned to connect additional equipment with a total capacity of over 500 MW, which is expected to improve the energy situation in Ukraine.
Discussion of the energy situation in Ukraine took place against the backdrop of ongoing military actions that significantly impact the country's energy infrastructure. Damage to energy facilities not only complicates the progress of the heating season but also threatens the overall stability of the energy system. Plans to connect new capacities in the coming years may be an important step towards restoring energy independence and improving energy supply for the population and enterprises. These measures could help Ukraine reduce its dependence on external energy sources in the future.
