Apple's Major Product Line Refresh

According to Главком: Apple has officially streamlined its product portfolio, ceasing production and sales for 15 devices. This move is designed to unify the company's ecosystem and steer customers toward its latest hardware, which supports modern artificial intelligence technologies. The news of this product line overhaul was reported by 'Hlavkom,' citing information from MacRumors. Such periodic portfolio pruning is a standard industry practice to focus resources and reduce complexity.

The following models have been removed from Apple's official lineup:

  • The budget iPhone 16e (2025)
  • The 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air models with the M3 chip (2025)
  • The 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models with the M4 chip (2025)
  • Professional MacBook Pro laptops based on the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips (2024)
  • The base 512GB M5 model (2025)
  • The powerful Mac Studio desktop with the M3 Ultra chip (2025)
  • The Studio Display monitor (2022)
  • The Pro Display XDR (2019), including the Pro Stand and VESA mount adapter

Although Apple has halted official sales of these gadgets, they may still be available through major retailers. These vendors are expected to sell off remaining inventory at discounted prices.

New Models and Future Forecasts

This week, the company also introduced an updated device portfolio. This includes a new iPhone 17e featuring an A19 processor, increased memory, and MagSafe support, alongside a completely new budget laptop, the MacBook Neo, based on the A18 Pro chip. Updated MacBook Air and Pro models will run on the most powerful M5-series chips, while new iPad Air models will be based on the M4 chip.

Finally, updated Studio Displays with enhanced specifications for professional work were announced. With roughly half a year remaining until Apple's fall presentation, noted GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu has already published a forecast for the next smartphone generation. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are anticipated to be landmark devices, as Apple is expected to transition to a fully in-house component supply chain.

The shift in favor of new models signals a strategic push to implement innovations that meet the demands of the modern market. Given Apple's plans to move to its own component manufacturing cycle, this could significantly alter the company's competitive standing in the future.
