The Toughest Winter for Ukraine

Ukrainians are experiencing the hardest winter: issues with energy, emergencies in the utilities sector, and a decline in quality of life – this situation has affected millions of residents in the country.

Utility Crisis in Lviv and Chernihiv

Lviv is facing a serious utility crisis: a third of the city has been without water for four days, while the rest of the residents are receiving water with delays. In the Chernihiv region, the situation is even worse – the energy system of the region has been non-operational for two weeks, leaving a large number of people without electricity, water, heating, and communication.

Financial Assistance and Tariffs

The city authorities of Kyiv allocated 548 million hryvnias for the restoration of water supply systems, while the government also provided 90 million for ensuring Zaporizhzhia with heating and water. At the same time, NEC 'Ukrenergo' is considering a tariff increase for electricity transmission, but the government decided to keep the tariffs for the population at the previous level until April 2026.

Political Events and Demographic Issues

The director of NEC 'Ukrenergo' was imprisoned during searches, and the president announced an agreement on gas supplies for the critical period. There is also a possibility of attracting 10 million labor migrants, while the average pension for a third of pensioners is around 3340 hryvnias.

Ukraine is facing complex issues in the utilities and energy sectors, leading to a severe deterioration in the living conditions of citizens. The government and local authorities are taking steps to address the crisis, allocating financial assistance and negotiating operational measures to improve the situation in the regions with the most significant problems.
