Visa-free regime with the EU for agricultural producers: what has changed for exports
The Deputy Head of the All-Ukrainian Agricultural Council, Denys Marchuk, spoke about the new opportunities and restrictions that have arisen for Ukrainian farmers after the extension of the trade visa-free regime between Ukraine and the EU.
'Thanks to the trade visa-free regime, which began in 2022, Ukrainian exports have been growing consistently and steadily. And we are not just talking about raw materials - a significant portion of value-added products has also been sent to Europe.'
Marchuk emphasized that Ukrainian goods received a positive reception in European markets, especially in Germany, Spain, and Italy. As for the restrictions, they have become stricter, but a potential easing is the increase in the quota for sugar exports.
At the same time, wheat exports face restrictions in trade with Europe, so Ukraine is paying attention to the markets of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
'When it comes to the further development of export directions, Ukraine will additionally focus on the markets of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East - these are our traditional partners,' explained Marchuk.
Despite the restrictions and challenges, Ukrainian products continue to be in demand, especially quality food grains, which are characterized by stable demand even in wartime conditions.
Ukrainian farmers have both new opportunities for exporting their products and restrictions, including stricter trading regulations with Europe and reduced export opportunities for certain types of agricultural products. At the same time, the demand for Ukrainian products remains stable in global markets, which allows farmers to expand their export markets and develop the country's agricultural potential.
