White House Dismisses Significance of Alleged Russia-Iran Intelligence Sharing
White House Responds to Reports of Intelligence Sharing
According to Главком: Amid the ongoing U.S. military campaign against Iran, known as 'Epic Fury', the White House has addressed reports that Russia may be providing intelligence to Iran. On the sixth day of the operation, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt stated that the U.S. does not comment on intelligence reports leaked to the press. She emphasized, however, that regardless of whether such sharing is occurring, President Trump and the U.S. military are fully committed to destroying what she termed the 'criminal Iranian terrorist regime'. This conflict represents a significant escalation in long-standing regional tensions.
According to The Washington Post, Russia is supplying Iran with intelligence to target American assets in the Middle East. In response, U.S. President Donald Trump asserted that 'we will destroy the threat from the brutal Iranian regime'. Levitt added that U.S. forces have 'stunningly established air dominance and superiority over Iranian skies' and are 'achieving the military objectives of this operation', describing the U.S. armed forces as 'the best and most lethal fighting force'.
Conflict Escalation and International Response
The conflict escalated on February 28th when Israel declared a state of emergency and launched attacks against Iran, a move confirmed by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz. That same day, President Trump announced the start of a large-scale military operation in Iran. Following strikes on Tehran, Iran retaliated with massive attacks on American bases in Persian Gulf countries. On March 1st, it was reported that Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had been killed, prompting Iran to declare a 40-day mourning period.
On March 2nd, Iran announced a shift to direct military confrontation with the 'American-Israeli alliance', causing a sharp spike in global oil prices. As of March 6th, combat operations continue. It was previously revealed that on February 23rd, President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a phone call to discuss further actions. According to Politico, U.S. military leadership anticipates that combat operations could continue until September.
Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, stated that 'this is not our war', underscoring Russia's position of distancing itself from the conflict. As the situation continues to unfold, the international community is closely monitoring events in the Middle East, concerned about the potential for a wider regional war.
