Crisis in Ukraine's Energy System: Why Power is Being Cut Even After Repairs
The energy system of Ukraine is in critical condition due to daily attacks from Russia on key infrastructure facilities. According to information published by DTEK, energy workers are working continuously, but each new strike complicates the process of system recovery.
The main question consumers have about the duration of power outages has been answered by the company. Prolonged repair works are related to destruction and the constant threat of new attacks, complicating conditions for energy workers.
'The situation in Ukraine's energy system is still critical. Russia attacks every day. The latest massive attack with Shahed drones and ballistic missiles, which are almost impossible to intercept. Key elements of the energy system remain the target,' says a specialist.
Attacks on Power Plants and Substations
Russian forces are attacking generating capacities and main networks. Power plants are constantly being shelled, and 'Ukrenergo' substations are under attack, limiting electricity supply to consumers.
The attacks on substations supplying nuclear power plants are particularly concerning. This leads to a reduction in NPP capacity to avoid accidents and outages, which impacts the overall inadequacy in the energy system.
All these factors complicate the work of energy workers who are trying to restore damaged infrastructure after each attack.
It should also be noted that the Ministry of Energy has already prepared four schedules for power outages for different regions of Ukraine.
Unfortunately, Ukraine's energy system is in critical condition due to constant attacks from Russia, complicating the recovery process and potentially causing serious electricity supply issues for the population.
