Russia's Strategy to Cause Energy Collapse in Ukraine Has Failed, Says Budanov
Head of Ukrainian President's Office Comments on Energy Situation
According to Главком: Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine's Presidential Office, stated that Russia's strategic plan to destabilize the country by causing a complete energy collapse has failed. He made this assessment during an interview with journalists on the national telethon, as reported by the publication 'Glavcom'. Budanov pointed to the absence of the widespread public protests that the Russian Federation had anticipated as evidence of this failure.
Budanov emphasized that despite all the hardships, Ukrainian society has withstood the pressure. He remarked:
“This is a rather interesting aspect. Society, for all its diversity, has endured. We have not seen the start of those mass uprisings on which the Russian Federation was very much counting.” - Kyrylo Budanov
Initiatives on Information Security
The head of the Presidential Office also commented that 'The missile strike originates from the territory of the Russian Federation. So, in this regard, they miscalculated.'
Furthermore, Budanov expressed an initiative to regulate the operation of the Telegram messaging app in Ukraine during 2024. This move could become a significant step for ensuring the country's information security. The Kremlin has long used Telegram and other platforms to spread disinformation and demoralize the Ukrainian population.
Budanov's statements highlight the resilience of Ukrainian society in the face of external pressure and the difficulties associated with war and an energy crisis. Importantly, despite attempts at destabilization, civic activity has remained stable, which may indicate public support for the government and its policies. The initiative regarding Telegram regulation also points to growing attention to information security amid the modern challenges facing Ukraine. This could become a crucial element in the fight against disinformation and manipulation by the aggressor state.
