Budapest is judging a Hungarian for service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine
According to glavcom.ua: The Hungarian prosecution has charged a local resident who participated in the Russo-Ukrainian war on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The man voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to participate in the confrontation against Russian troops, taking this action in 2024. After training in Ukraine, he was assigned to a battalion that took part in combat operations, performing reconnaissance tasks.
The prosecution accuses the man, who is wanted, of 'illegal recruitment by joining an armed organization that is not part of the armed forces of an ally, with the aim of participating in armed conflicts.' The prosecution requests the court to consider the case against the man and issue a verdict in his absence, as the whereabouts of the Hungarian are currently unknown.
Hungary has imposed sanctions against Ukrainian generals
Hungary has responded to this case by imposing sanctions against three Ukrainian generals, representatives of the command of the Ground Forces of Ukraine, in connection with the death of a dual citizen from Transcarpathia due to their involvement in this war. This situation has caused tension in the relations between Hungary and Ukraine, and has also led to a conflict over the new EU budget, which is perceived differently by various countries.
