Ivan Hasek led the Czech national team since January 2024, under his leadership the team played 21 matches, winning 11 of them. Despite the defeat to the Faroe Islands, the Czech national team has a good chance to continue the struggle for qualification for the 2026 World Cup. The team needs to defeat Gibraltar on November 17 to secure second place in Group L and advance to the playoff matches.

The Football Association of the Czech Republic (FAČR) has decided to fire the head coach of the national team, Ivan Hasek, after an unexpected defeat to the Faroe Islands (1:2) in the World Cup qualifying match. FAČR chief David Trunda stated that a new coach will be appointed before the end of the qualifying tournament.

In other matches, the Ukrainian football team achieved victory over Azerbaijan during the World Cup qualifiers. Participants of the tense match – Ukraine and Iceland, played with a score of 3:5 in favor of the Ukrainian team.

After the unexpected defeat to the Faroe Islands, the head coach of the Czech national team was dismissed. The team still has chances for World Cup qualification and has an important match against Gibraltar to improve its position in the group. At the same time, the Ukrainian football team achieved victory in the match against Azerbaijan, boosting its chances of participation in the upcoming tournament.
