Prices for butter and milk will drop by 35%: when to expect price reductions
In Ukraine, a decrease in the cost of fatty dairy products by 30-35% is expected before the New Year holidays of 2026. This has become possible due to a decrease in prices in the European market, which will directly affect the cost of dairy products in Ukraine.
The decrease in prices for fatty dairy products will continue until the first half of 2026. In the European market, prices for butter have fallen by more than 30%. Previously, Ukrainian exporters sold butter to the EU for 7 euros per kilogram, but now its price is 4.5 euros per kilogram. This significant decrease in cost is already felt in the market, as expert Olena Zhupinas noted.
Changes in pricing policy
Also, in mid-November, the price for 'extra' class milk fell by 17%. These changes in the pricing policy for dairy products are a positive signal for consumers who hope for lower prices.
However, it is worth noting that in October 2023, food prices in Ukraine overall increased by 1.7%. In particular:
- alcoholic beverages and tobacco products rose in price by 1.5%
- services of restaurants and hotels increased by 0.9%
- prices for eggs rose by 11%
- prices for vegetables - by 10.4%
- prices for milk - by 3.8%
At the same time, fruits and sugar became cheaper by 2.6%, while onions decreased by 16.8%.
The decrease in prices for fatty dairy products may positively affect the overall level of food prices in Ukraine, which is an important factor for consumers in the context of the general rise in food prices. As there is a significant decrease in butter prices in the market, Ukrainian experts believe that this may lay the foundation for further reductions in the cost of other dairy products, which, in turn, could ease the financial burden on households. Consumers are eagerly awaiting positive changes in the pricing policy for dairy products, especially in the context of the overall rise in food prices in Ukraine.
