Ukrainian Fuel Prices Hold Steady Amid Global Oil Surge, Antimonopoly Committee Launches Probe
Current Fuel Price Situation in Ukraine
According to Главком: As of March 13, 2026, fuel prices in Ukraine have remained largely stable overall. However, some filling stations have increased prices for diesel and autogas. The national average price for A-95 gasoline stands at 69.76 UAH per liter, while diesel averages 75.92 UAH per liter. Notably, networks including UPG, WOG, OKKO, and BRSM-Nafta have raised diesel prices, and autogas has increased by one hryvnia. This stability comes despite significant volatility in global energy markets, which directly impacts import-dependent nations.
Reasons for Price Fluctuations and Government Response
The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has explained the reasons behind these market fluctuations and announced it is launching an investigation. For the first time since 2022, oil prices have surpassed the $100 per barrel mark, affecting fuel costs globally. U.S. oil futures surged by 14.7%, while Brent crude added over 12%, reaching $104.
Fuel expenses account for roughly 10–15% of agricultural production costs, which could lead to a 1–2% increase in prices for farm sector products. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the government's efforts, stating:
“The authorities will strive to curb the rise in gasoline prices.”
In a related move, Deputy Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko announced that citizens will be eligible for a state cashback when purchasing fuel at stations.
Fuel prices at various networks are as follows:
- UPG: A95 - 68.90 UAH, Diesel - 75.40 UAH, Autogas - 43.40 UAH.
- OKKO: A95 - 70.99 UAH, Diesel - 76.99 UAH, Autogas - 43.99 UAH.
- WOG: A95 - 70.99 UAH, Diesel - 77.99 UAH, Autogas - 44.98 UAH.
- KLO: A95 - 70.49 UAH, Diesel - 79.09 UAH, Autogas - 44.60 UAH.
- SOCAR: A95 - 70.99 UAH, Diesel - 77.99 UAH, Autogas - 42.98 UAH.
- UKRNAFTA: A95 - 68.99 UAH, Diesel - 71.99 UAH, Autogas - 40.99 UAH.
- BRSM: A95 - 66.99 UAH, Diesel - 71.99 UAH, Autogas - 39.49 UAH.
Consequently, while the overall fuel market in Ukraine remains under control, the continuing rise in prices for certain fuels is causing concern among consumers and producers alike.
The increase in diesel and autogas prices could negatively affect the cost of agricultural products, as fuel constitutes a significant part of production expenses. Government measures, including the potential for cashback, may partially cushion the impact of these changes on consumers. The Antimonopoly Committee's probe also indicates attempts to oversee the pricing situation, which is crucial for the country's economic stability during a period of global energy pressure.
