The current electricity tariff for Ukrainians will not change in 2026: what the government has decided
Ukrainians will continue to pay for electricity at the current price at least until autumn 2026. The government has decided not to change the tariff and has kept the base rate at 4.32 UAH per kWh, as well as benefits for some households. This was reported by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
Electricity tariff 2026: the base price remains unchanged
The Cabinet of Ministers has extended the current tariff for residential consumers until October 31, 2026. This means that the rate of 4.32 UAH per kWh will remain unchanged throughout the entire period.
According to the Prime Minister, the decision is aimed at stabilizing expenses for the population. «We support households for which electricity is the main source of heat», she noted.
This concerns apartments and houses with electric heating, as well as housing without access to gas or centralized heating.
Reduced electricity tariff: who will pay less
For certain categories of consumers, a reduced price will be maintained during the heating season:
-
2.64 UAH per kWh — when consuming up to 2000 kWh per month.
-
4.32 UAH per kWh — if the volume is exceeded.
The benefit will be in effect from October 1 to April 30. It is primarily designed for households that rely on electric heating.
The government emphasizes that such a model allows for reducing pressure during the cold period when energy costs rise sharply.
Tariff checks and energy system status
At the same time, the government has strengthened control over calculations. During inspections, the State Consumer Service recorded violations in nearly 98% of cases. Some consumers are already receiving refunds, while suppliers are being fined.
Separately, authorities are preparing for the next heating season. They plan to accumulate at least 14.6 billion cubic meters of gas in underground storage facilities. The minimum required level is estimated at 13.2 billion cubic meters.
This reserve is expected to ensure the stability of the energy system even in case of a cold winter or new attacks on infrastructure.
Let’s recall that from April 1, 2026, the Ukrenergo tariff for electricity transmission increased to 742.91 UAH per megawatt-hour excluding VAT. This increase is part of a two-stage increase for 2026 that was approved by the National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Utilities (NKREKP).
