The State Bureau of Investigation has uncovered a scheme for selling medical certificates in Chernivtsi: up to 10 thousand dollars for unfitness
The State Bureau of Investigation has completed a pre-trial investigation against the former head of the military medical commission at the Chernivtsi Regional Mobilization Center and his accomplice, who received bribes for forging documents on unfitness for military service.
During the medical commission, the head of the commission offered men assistance in preparing documents for unfitness for military service for a corresponding amount, ranging from 5 to 10 thousand US dollars. The official received the money through an intermediary, through whom he also handed over the finished certificates.
'The scheme operated since February 2025 and was stopped in April when the SBI employees detained the accomplice while receiving the second 'installment' from the customer. The subject had a ready package of documents for the conscript with the signatures of the commission head,' the SBI reported.
The court selected a preventive measure for both suspects in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail. All members of the military medical commission of the Chernivtsi Regional Mobilization Center were also replaced.
The official's intermediary is accused of aiding in the receipt of illegal benefits, while the former head of the commission is accused of official forgery. The sanction provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 10 years. The indictment has been sent to court.
With the completion of the pre-trial investigation, those guilty of the crimes have been uncovered and face severe penalties for violating the law. At the same time, all members of the military medical commission were replaced to prevent similar cases in the future.
