45-Day Deferrals for Defense Sector Workers

According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukraine's Diia government services portal has launched a new function allowing defense industry and other militarily critical enterprises to temporarily defer their employees from military service for 45 calendar days. This measure, active since March 13, applies even to individuals with irregularities in their military registration status. This initiative aims to support Ukraine's defense manufacturing capacity during the ongoing war.

How the Deferral Process Works

Under the new rules, the deferral period is set at 45 days. The function operates through the Oberih registry, so an individual must be registered for military service to use it. Previously, certain issues with military registration could prevent deferrals, including:

  • Lacking a valid military registration document;
  • Having unverified personal data;
  • Being listed as wanted by a Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC).

To resolve these issues and register, citizens can use the online application Reserve+. They need to install or update the app, complete authorization, and select the 'register for service' option. This simplifies the registration process and enables access to the new deferral function.

This new initiative is designed to alleviate staffing challenges for enterprises crucial to national defense, ensuring they retain skilled workers. It underscores the dual priorities of maintaining a legitimate military registration system while supporting the industrial base essential for Ukraine's security.

As the Diia Portal adapts to the evolving needs of the defense sector, it's important to note that some key services may currently be limited. Recently, the Diia application has faced temporary unavailability for essential functions, including military registration and vehicle operations.
