Streamlined Access to Education Benefits for Veterans' Children

According to Мін. Оборони: Children of Ukrainian veterans now face a simpler process when applying for education benefits at colleges and universities. An extract from the Veterans Registry can now be used in place of a combatant certificate. This change is designed to remove barriers and make it easier for children whose parents served in combat to pursue higher education.

Two Ways to Obtain the Extract

The extract is available at no cost. Applicants can choose from two methods:

  • remotely through the Diia online portal
  • in paper form at a Administrative Services Center (ASCC)

This will save parents considerable time and effort as they support their children through their academic journey.

This decision marks a significant step in supporting veterans' children, as educational access is vital for youth social adaptation and development. By reducing bureaucratic hurdles, more families may be encouraged to seek these benefits, potentially boosting educational outcomes and future opportunities for these students.
