Ukrainian Poet in a Wheelchair Publishes Debut Collection, Donates Proceeds to Armed Forces
Debut Poetry Collection by Daniella Zhovtobryukhova
According to Державна міграційна служба: Daniella Zhovtobryukhova, a young woman from Kremenchuk who uses a wheelchair and writes under the pen name Zozulenka, has launched her first poetry collection, titled 'The Song of a Maiden's Heart'. The presentation event took place in July 2025. Demonstrating her civic commitment, Daniella decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from the book's sales to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This marks a significant milestone for the poet, who has lived with mobility challenges since childhood.
Personal Achievement and Social Responsibility
Born and residing in Kremenchuk, Poltava region, Daniella has used a wheelchair from birth. A Ukrainian soldier she met during rehabilitation in Chernihiv attended her book presentation. In a poignant moment, he presented her with a symbolic Ukrainian coat of arms crafted from bullet casings, which deeply moved Daniella and all attendees.
In a separate act of community support last September, the migration service conducted an outreach visit to issue Daniella her Ukrainian citizen ID card. Upon receiving the document, she gifted her poetry collection to the migration service representatives in return. This gesture highlighted her gratitude for their assistance and her desire to share her creative work.
Through these actions, Daniella Zhovtobryukhova has not only realized her dream of becoming a published poet but has also taken a strong civic stance by supporting Ukraine's military. Her story is a powerful example of resilience and contribution from within Ukraine's civilian population during wartime.
The launch of Daniella Zhovtobryukhova's collection serves as an important example of how personal achievement can be combined with social responsibility.
Her fundraising for the military underscores the active participation of Ukrainian youth in national efforts and their desire to contribute to the common cause. This case also highlights the importance of supporting people with disabilities, who, despite physical challenges, can realize their talents and positively impact society.
